Holi hai! This Holi Celebration Might Get Out of Control (But in the BEST Way Possible!)

Are you all excited? Holi is just a few days away and I’m sure most of you have your plans made and are ready to celebrate with splashes of water and paint them full of colors. But before we get started let’s also dial back into why we celebrate Holi – lemme give you a glimpse just in case, if you have missed it!

Holi is just like a giant game of tag, but instead of touching someone, you throw colored powder and water!

People of all ages chase each other through the streets, laughing and turning each other into walking rainbows. But Holi is more than just a colorful party.  It’s The tale of good vs evil, a celebration of love, and a joyous welcome to the Summer Season.

So here’s a story within the story-
A long time ago, there was an evil king named Hiranyakashipu who thought he was invincible as he was given a boon for which he grew very arrogant. He even demanded people worship him instead of the gods! His own son Prahlad, refused and instead prayed to Lord Vishnu, the protector god. Hiranyakashipu couldn’t handle this and decided to get rid of Prahlad.

He planned a fiery trick with his sister Holika, to make him sit on fire with her and she wouldn’t burn in flames. But the plan backfired, and Holika was consumed by the flames instead & Prahlad survived. Lord Vishnu arrived as ‘Narasimha’ Half Lion – Half human to kill Hiranyakashipu at dusk at the threshold of the house on his lap. And that’s how we had a victory of Good over Evil

The bonfire lit the night before Holi, called Holika Dahan, symbolizes burning away negativity. Then comes the vibrant day of throwing colors, which represents the triumph of good and the playful spirit of Summers.

Holi is also a celebration of love & is also a beautiful blend of stories, colors, and happiness. It’s a time to forgive, laugh, and shower loved ones with colored powder. Let’s come back to plans we have or are about to make for Holi, everyone loves to enjoy the festive in their way.
